Some of the best food stories don’t begin in a restaurant. They begin around a family table.
 

For Chef Angel Farias, food has always been about more than a meal. Growing up in Los Angeles with family roots in Michoacán, Mexico, he learnt that every recipe carries a story, every ingredient has a purpose, and every shared meal brings people together.
 

After building a respected career in hospitality - including time at Melbourne’s acclaimed Mamasita - Angel realised there was something missing. He wanted to cook the food he grew up eating. The kind of food that reminded him of home. The flavours you’d find at neighbourhood taquerías and family gatherings across Los Angeles and Mexico, not watered-down versions made to suit expectations.
 

That’s how Tacos LA was born.
 

Today, Tacos LA brings authentic Los Angeles street food to Mordialloc, serving handcrafted tacos, traditional handmade tamales and seasonal specials that celebrate generations of Mexican cooking. Every tortilla, every salsa and every filling is prepared with the same attention to detail that has defined Angel’s career.
 

While the menu is intentionally simple, it’s built on quality. Premium ingredients. Slow-cooked meats. Fresh garnishes. House-made recipes. No shortcuts.
 

Our tamales are a perfect example. Made using a traditional family recipe that has been passed down through generations, they’re naturally gluten free, incredibly comforting and unlike anything most Australians have experienced. It’s the kind of food that’s deeply connected to Mexican culture and one of the dishes we’re most proud to share.
 

But Tacos LA isn’t just about food.
 

It’s about community.
